The challenge

Live sport continues to be a huge driver for hospitality venues, but keeping event listings accurate and up-to-date across digital platforms can be time-consuming and costly. While Fanzo offers a powerful API to surface live sport schedules, using it out-of-the-box can come with ongoing monthly fees.

Many of our clients, including independent pubs and hospitality groups, need a cost-effective, tailored solution that fits seamlessly into their websites and reflects the unique offerings of their venues, such as dog-friendly spaces or specific sports coverage.

Our solution

We’ve developed a custom integration of the Fanzo API that provides all the rich, real-time sports data, without the ongoing costs. By opting for a one-off setup cost with Codeminers, clients can avoid monthly fees while still benefitting from an optimised, high-performing integration.

An excellent example of this is our work with The Parcel Yard, a Fuller’s pub in King’s Cross. The Live Sport page now shows an up-to-date list of upcoming matches and fixtures across a range of sports, pulled directly from Fanzo and presented in a clean, mobile-friendly layout.

Looking ahead: the live sport finder

Building on this success, we’re now working on a Live Sport Finder tool: a mobile-optimised web application that allows users to search for venues showing live sport. This tool is built with user experience at its core, including filters for things like dog-friendly pubs, specific sports, or facilities like outdoor screens.
