Building a Great Team

Everyone knows that the success of a great business relies on building a great and reliable team. With some of the Codeminers expert team working remotely, it was imperative for us to build a great team. Read on to find out our top tips on building a great team to benefit your business.

Getting the right people

A team is only as good as the people in it. Identify what you’re looking for within your team, and what key characteristics and traits are needed for each role. Once you have a clear idea of your ideal team, you can focus on going after the perfect candidates.

However, with highly skilled positions such as web development or design, you shouldn’t rush your hiring process to find the perfect candidate. You want to ensure that they’re the right fit for your business, as well as getting the work done effectively.

Embracing the Culture

People can’t be forced to fit into the existing team and be included in the workplace culture, however, a desire to belong and contribute plays a big factor. An important part of building a great team is how your team fits into the culture that you’ve formed, both in the office and outside it.

A great team can work collaboratively on projects, as well as have a laugh together are more likely to get along day to day, alongside providing a better quality of work.

Celebrating the successes & failures

Recognising the successes and failures with your team takes them along the business journey with you, making them feel more valued.

Success stories serve as motivation and inspiration, whilst the failures can be seen as learning points. Both stories can help your team develop their individual skill sets, alongside helping to build the culture and friendships within the office. This also supports an environment of openness and honesty – really important values to build trust in a team.

Actually get to know each other

It’s a given that you will have to spend a lot of time with your team, whether in person or online, so it’s nice to actually get to know your team members on some kind of personal level, what they get up to on the weekends or even a bit about their family life.

Getting to know the people you work with helps you understand how they work and how to have those harder talks on tougher days, as well as building a potential friendship that could last well past your current job roles.

Here at Codeminers we’ve used and developed these tips and tricks extensively to ensure that we have the best set of highly skilled developers on hand and deliver the best possible service possible to our clients.
